Being a rich multi-faceted medium, video increases the effectiveness of your training when used in conjunction with other methods. Many learners do not have the necessary reading or document skills to work only with workbooks or text-heavy web pages or exercises.

Working with partners 45° Latitude Digital Filming & Production and Stonehaven Productions, FocusFit can research, design, script, shoot and edit an instructional video designed to take advantage of video’s benefits, and meet your learning needs—whether they be orientation, technical training, team building, communication, management, leadership, or some other training and development topic.

What’s more, FocusFit can design complementary resource materials and packaging: workbooks or manuals, facilitator’s guide, job aids, or web site content, for example.

By including complementary resource materials and packaging in the design, we ensure that all FocusFit videos incorporate best practices in adult learning:

1. first, the learner is introduced to the concept(s) by a facilitator [or in web setting, through text or video introduction];
2. the learner is re-introduced to the concept(s) by the video actor-host;
3. the learner sees the desired behaviour(s) modeled;
4. the learner discusses what he or she has seen; and
5. the learner practices the demonstrated behaviour.

The video segments can feature professional actors and/or content experts and/or employees in different settings. We involve you throughout the process, gathering research materials, reviewing design, finalizing the script matrix or story board, developing the shoot plans, and editing.

Typically we produce multiple video segments or modules ranging in length from 5 to 15 minutes, producing 20 to 60 minutes of finished video product per project. Typical deliverables include

• multiple copies of a DVD containing the video segments
• the .wmv and .mov files necessary to convert the segments to ‘web-ready’ form
• companion discussion questions and practice exercises for use in both on-line and facilitator-led sessions
